West Ham<\/a>\u2019s proposed move to the London Olympic Stadium rejected by a High Court judge.<\/p>\nAll three clubs had wanted to move to the stadium after the 2012 Olympic Games, but the Olympic Park Legacy Committee (OPLC) and the government selected West Ham as the preferred bidders.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe court has today decided to refuse both Tottenham Hotspur and Leyton Orient permission to pursue a judicial review challenge in relation to Legacy Company\u2019s decision to select a preferred bidder for the Olympic Stadium,\u201d a spokesman from the OPLC told The Daily Telegraph<\/em>.<\/p>\n\u201cWe are pleased with the ruling and continue to make good progress in our negotiations with the preferred bidder in order to be in a position to agree the final terms for the stadium\u2019s lease.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mr Justice Davis rejected four separate applications for the decision to go to a judicial review, and although one further application from Leyton Orient against the government has yet to be considered, the move seems to pave the way for the Hammers to be confirmed as the inheritors of the stadium.<\/p>\n
The judge has written to all interested parties to explain his decision.<\/p>\n
The decision-making process would have gone to trial if the applications were successful, but for now final negotiations between West Ham and the OPLC are open to continue.<\/p>\n
Hammers vice-chairman Karren Brady was pleased with the decision, saying: \u201cWe welcome today’s news as further endorsement of our strong and viable legacy vision.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe hope we can now focus all our energy and passion on delivering a fantastic multi-use Olympic Stadium for the whole nation.\u201d<\/p>\n
Spurs and Orient do, however, retain the right to appeal against the decision to reject their applications, and could now request an oral hearing where they could make their case in person.<\/p>\n
