{"id":446020,"date":"2011-06-23T06:56:28","date_gmt":"2011-06-23T06:56:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/2011\/06\/23\/nigeria-citizens-in-germany-tip-falcons-for-world-cup-glory\/"},"modified":"2011-06-23T06:56:28","modified_gmt":"2011-06-23T06:56:28","slug":"nigeria-citizens-in-germany-tip-falcons-for-world-cup-glory","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2011\/06\/23\/nigeria-citizens-in-germany-tip-falcons-for-world-cup-glory\/","title":{"rendered":"Nigeria: Citizens in Germany Tip Falcons for World Cup Glory"},"content":{"rendered":"<div readability=\"49.4132762313\">\n<hr class=\"thin clear\" \/>\n<hr class=\"thin clear\" \/>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.vanguardngr.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/allafrica.com\/img\/static\/publishers\/minibanners\/vanguard180.jpg\" alt=\"Vanguard (Lagos)\" title=\"Visit Vanguard (Lagos)\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>22 June 2011<\/p>\n<hr class=\"thin clear\" \/>\n<p>Few days to the sixth FIFA Women&#8217;s World Cup in Germany, some Nigerians in Berlin said they were confident the Super Falcons would qualify for the second round of the competition.<\/p>\n<p>Nigeria was drawn in Group A and will play against France, Canada and Germany.<\/p>\n<p>The group is considered as the toughest with Germany having the double advantage of being the defending champion and hosts.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Peter Agwi, an architect, said he was confident that the Super Falcons would take the second position in the group.<\/p>\n<p>Agwi, an ex-President of Nigerians in Dispora Organisation, Germany Chapter, said he was hopeful that the team would also make it to the semi final.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m sure they will get to the semi final, if not final. Putting them in that group will encourage them to perform better because of German team.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I think it will help them because Germany is very tough team and if you are going to fight a tough person you have to be prepared. Maybe that will make them to qualify along with Germany,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>Also speaking, Mrs Stephania Ghogomu, a business woman in Berlin, said that the German team was very strong, &#8220;if we come second in the group that will be good.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I watched the last match between Germany and Norway which is also a good team, German team scored two goals in three minutes. I pray that our team will go far in the competition.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m a Christian and I believe in miracle. A miracle can happen. Even if we don&#8217;t go too far, it doesn&#8217;t matter. The spirit behind it is that we have qualified for the tournament and have come to represent Africa in the world cup,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>Also speaking, Mr Akin Adejumo, who is a nurse, predicted that the Super Falcons will come second in the group behind Germany.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m expecting our team to come either first or second in the group.
