AKURE \u2013 AFTER 11 days, kidnappers of 82 years old Mariam Oke, mother\u00a0of the National Legal Adviser of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Olusola Oke, have contacted the family and are reported to be demanding for N130Million ransom.<\/p>\n

Though the family of the octogenarian refused to state the exact amount, but said it was huge and impossible for them to raise.<\/p>\n

It will be recalled that Madam Oke was kidnapped by five gunmen at his son\u2019s residence in Igbokoda,\u00a0 Ilaje council area of the state..<\/p>\n

Speaking to newsmen, Mr. Oke said, \u201cit is a huge one that for obvious reason, I cannot disclose to the public.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to him, \u201cit took the family about three days of intense negotiations and pleadings for the kidnappers to go down a little in their monetary demand but even then I don\u2019t know how we could raise such fund. We are still pleading with them anyway.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOur utmost concern is the safety of our mother and we have prayed her captors to please put an end to the trauma they are subjecting the innocent old woman to. Sincerely, when you read about these things in the newspapers and you show concern as a human being, you cannot experience the pain of the affected ones like the one we are presently going through. It is traumatic and I hope that an end would be found to this inhuman crime in this country.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom the little time the kidnappers allowed some family members to speak to their captive, mama seemed to be in high spirit but we know these things, she might want to sound like that in order not to further agitate our minds, but we know she is going through a lot of pain.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom the conversations so far held with the kidnappers, we have discovered that she is being held somewhere in the creeks of the coastal areas but we cannot specifically determine the exact place.\u201d<\/p>\n

He lauded the police\u2019s effort but declared that \u201cI believe the police are trying their best but the problems appear to be too overwhelming for them to cope with.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking, the State Police Command through its PRO, Mr Adeniran Aremu said \u201cwe are trying our best and I can assure you that these kidnappers would be caught and brought to book according to the law of the land, adding that \u201cyou know some information cannot be divulged in order not to hamper the process of investigations but we are on top of the situation.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
