New Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas has his targets set on winning trophies but feels the continued success of the club is more important than his appointment.

Villas-Boas was announced boss on Wednesday after a release clause in his Porto contract was triggered, with the 33-year-old becoming the youngest manager in the Premier League.

And after a treble-winning success in the Portuguese Superliga with his former club, he is well aware that expectations are high at Stamford Bridge and he is keen to ensure that he delivers.

“No doubt the challenge for me is to keep winning, I am an individual who has that hunger for success and wants to keep it that way,” Villas-Boas told Chelsea TV.

“This is the most important thing, it is not about my arrival, and it is about the continued success of this club.

“Let us reflect on the past six years on what we have achieved and what we can achieve in the next six years.“

Villas-Boas, whose arrival has been met with intense media coverage, believes he will be just part of a collective effort.

“Don’t expect something from one man,“ he said, “expect a group dynamic of everybody getting together. Of the fans getting together, of everybody getting excited with the motivation that is around us and the new way of communicating and the new leadership.”
