Asempa News has learnt that the Office of the President has stepped into the confusion between the Ghana Highway Authority and the National Youth Employment Programme over the Authority\u2019s refusal to give 10% of the Road Funds to the NYEP and its hard stance of not to allow NYEP beneficiaries to patch potholes on highways.<\/p>\n

Listeners will recall that Acting Director of Road Maintenance at the Authority Ofori Frimpong told Asempa News last week that beneficiaries of the road Maintenance Module under the National Youth Employment Program were not qualified to fill the potholes on highways.<\/p>\n

According to Mr. Ofori Frimpong, the beneficiaries lacked the requisite knowledge to perform their duties.<\/p>\n

This claim was however refuted by the NYEP, which insisted that the beneficiaries were more than qualified to do the job.<\/p>\n

A source told Asempa News that, the directive from the Presidency also called for immediate ceasefire between the two factions, while cabinet meets to decide on the issue.<\/p>\n

Officials from the two bodies were scheduled to hold a crunch meeting last Monday but had to be cancelled at the last hour due to the unavailability of the Road and Highways Minister<\/p>\n

Joe Gidisu. That meeting is said to have been rescheduled for Thursday June 23.<\/p>\n
