{"id":445174,"date":"2011-06-21T16:16:26","date_gmt":"2011-06-21T16:16:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/2011\/06\/21\/new-juaben-citizens-condemn-demo-against-omanhene\/"},"modified":"2011-06-21T16:16:26","modified_gmt":"2011-06-21T16:16:26","slug":"new-juaben-citizens-condemn-demo-against-omanhene","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2011\/06\/21\/new-juaben-citizens-condemn-demo-against-omanhene\/","title":{"rendered":"New Juaben citizens condemn demo against Omanhene"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"caption\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/89e45e18020x20373.jpg.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Daasebre Oti Boateng\" title=\"Daasebre Oti Boateng\" align=\"left\" \/>A group calling itself Patriotic Citizens of New Juaben has condemned a demonstration organized by two groups called New Juaben Youth Association and Concerned Citizens of New Juaben in Koforidua against the Omanhene of the area, Daasebre Oti Boateng.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Patriotic Citizens of New Juaben, the demonstration which was organized by \u201ca tiny minority in the area\u201d was a calculated attempt to destabilize the peace in the new Juaben Municipality for the interest of one person who has interest in the New Juaben stool.<\/p>\n<p>The spokesperson of the group, Nana Kokoti Asamoah II who is the Abrasehene of New Juaben claimed that the demonstration was allegedly marshalled and sponsored by one Nana Topeng who he claimed has interest in the New Juaben stool.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Patriotic Citizens of New Juaben, the chieftaincy system in Ghana is not the one which a few can mobilize protests to unseat a chief but has to follow laid down procedures of addressing grievances.<\/p>\n<p>He said the &#8220;so-called&#8221; Concerned citizens of New Juaben who will not number up to 50 are not on record to have tabled any grievances to any of the traditional authorities, so he finds the motive behind the demonstration mischievous.<\/p>\n<p>Nana Kokoti Asamoah II advised the demonstrators not to preach violence or disrupt the peaceful atmosphere the people of the town are enjoying.<\/p>\n<p>A section of people parading as chiefs and royals of the New Juaben Traditional Area organized a press conference and a demonstration on Tuesday against the Omanhene of New Juaben, Daasebre Oti Boateng for creating lapses in their customs.<\/p>\n<p>The spokesperson of the demonstrators, Nana Yaw Boabeng II who is the Nseniehene of the area noted that, chieftaincy customs and traditions and palace ethics of Dasaabre Oti Boateng have fallen to their lowest ebb.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the result of these is that, the chain of command at the New Juaben palace is not working whiles the role of chiefs are not followed\u00a0 but are arbitrarily delegated without any regard to customs and tradition which is the hub around which the chieftaincy institution revolves.<\/p>\n<p>They also accused Daasebre Oti Boateng for unlawfully suspending some chiefs among other allegations and called on him to step aside as the Omanhene since he has no respect for his sub chiefs and also ruled as an autocratic leader.<\/p>\n<p>Story: Maxwell Kudekor\/Asempa News\/Ghana<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<div readability=\"7\">\n<hr \/>\n<p>Add this page to your favorite Social Bookmarking websites\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>See more here: <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p> A group calling itself Patriotic Citizens of New Juaben has condemned a demonstration organized by two groups called New Juaben Youth Association and Concerned Citizens of New Juaben in Koforidua against the Omanhene of the area, Daasebre Oti Boateng.
