Simon Mignolet is adamant he wishes to remain at Sunderland next season and claims he has settled in quickly at the Stadium of Light.<\/p>\n

Although the Belgian goalkeeper was not expected to be a first-team regular upon his arrival, he made 23 appearances last season as Craig Gordon struggled with form and a knee injury.<\/p>\n

And the 22-year-old admitted he felt at home as soon as he arrived at Steve Bruce’s side.<\/p>\n

“Settling in was easy. I spoke a little of the language, which really helped,” he told the clubs official website.<\/p>\n

“I am not that far away from Belgium here – only an hour flight – and my family are quickly here too.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite being the only Belgian on the club\u2019s books he revealed the morale in the dressing room was a good one and the friendly nature of the Sunderland supporters had really helped him settle down, allowing him to concentrate on his football.<\/p>\n

“I have been made to feel welcome by everyone at the club, from the players to the supporters,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

“We have a number of foreign players who speak other languages I can speak.<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone has been very good to me.”<\/p>\n
