Now I can say I’m an improved boxer and I hope to show it,” Asiku told Saturday Monitor early this week.

The 32-year-old Ugandan engages Choi, (30-5, 21Kos), who has a rich history against his countrymen. Choi has in the past dispatched Uganda’s John “Mackey” Mukaaya and Abdu Tebazalwa. “I can’t be compared to Mukaaya and Abdu. We are completely different fighters. I have my game plan.” Speaking earlier to boxrec.com, Choi spoke of the upcoming fight and his fiercely burning championship aspirations.

“My training is over and I can knock him out, that’s it. After this my ambition is another title, I have two belts now, WBF and WBU.

“I want a major belt, I need to fight a Mexican. I like fighting; I’m ready for long time now.” Meanwhile, WBA, WBC and WBO Female World Welterweight Champion Cecilia Braekhus on Thursday officially launched the Uganda Amateur Women Boxing Association.

“Uganda has the talent to do well in any major international championship,” Braekhus, a Jamaican, told a media gathering during national boxing trials at Lugogo. Previously, female boxers were governed under the Uganda Amateur Boxing Federation but now have an independent body to run their affairs.

At the same gathering, National Council of Sports general secretary Jasper Aligawesa, endorsed the development and unveiled a copy of the constitution to govern women boxing.

Braekhus donated boxing equipment to the country.

<fieldset>
<legend align="center">More News on allAfrica.com</legend>
</fieldset>

AllAfrica – All the Time

Read More:
Uganda: Asiku’s Chance to Regain Lost Glory

James Ssekandi 18 June 2011 Jackson ‘Action’ Asiku hopes to regain his lost glory as he takes on Tseveenpurev ‘Warrior’ Choi for the World Boxing Union (WBU) featherweight title at York Hall, London today.
