Maybe for the fans, it will be something special but for me and my players, it will be about getting the three points,” he said.

Bandari with twelve points are in the bottom two but Congo are not safe either with only a point separating them from their Mombasa neighbours.

Today, reigning Kenya Premier League champions Ulinzi Stars are likely go to the top of the Premier League standings if they beat Karuturi Sports at Afraha Stadium.

In what has been a remarkable turn around for the soldiers, who began the season poorly managing only two points from four matches, Benjamin Nyangweso’s side will go one point ahead of current leaders Rangers if they manage to get all the three points against at Karuturi sports.

Karuturi have equally rescued their season after some unconvincing performances. “It is always a tough match when we play Ulinzi and today will be no different. They have found their form at the right time and they’ll be a tough side to play against,” said Karuturi coach James Nandwa.

In another match today, Nairobi City Stars, who are doing badly this season, get another chance to try their luck when they travel to Awendo to face fellow strugglers Sony Sugar.

City Stars are bottom of the table and will need three points and other results to go their way if they are to get off the bottom two places they have occupied since the early days of the season.

Meanwhile, Mathare United faced with the harsh reality that they too can be drawn into a relegation dogfight, battled to a 1-0 victory over AFC Leopards on Thursday to give themselves some reprieve amid the mounting pressure. Winger Kevin Kimani’s first half strike was enough to give Salim Ali’s side the three points they needed to get off the drop zone.

The 2009 champions Sofapaka’s indifferent form in the league continued as they managed only a point from their sojourn to kakamega, where they were held to a barren draw by Western Stima, to leave them clutching at straws in a bid to reclaim the title they won for the first time in 2009 and lost it last season to Ulinzi Stars.

<fieldset>
<legend align="center">More News on allAfrica.com</legend>
</fieldset>

AllAfrica – All the Time

Read More:
Kenya: Eyes On Coast Derby

Nairobi Star (Nairobi) Francis Wadegu 18 June 2011 The focus this weekend is on the first coast derby in years as Congo United come face to face with Bandari tomorrow in the top flight league after last season’s bruising battles in the Nationwide League.

[6

0":"post-444355","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-local-news
<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.0 -
