Sokoto \u2013 The payment of\u00a0 N18,000 minimum wage by state governments should not be hinged on the review of the national revenue allocation formula, Alhaji Danyaro Tambuwal has said.<\/p>\n

Tambuwal, the Acting Chairman of Sokoto State chapter of\u00a0 Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC),\u00a0 in Sokoto on Saturday, said\u00a0 that since the new wage law had been law enacted, it must be implemented.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe commend the review of the current revenue allocation formula being used for the three tiers of government but this should not be hinged on the implementation of the minimum wage,\u2019\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n

While commending the state governments, which had begun its implementation, Tambuwal said the new minimum wage, if fully implemented, would improve the welfare of workers.<\/p>\n

He said that the three tiers of government should address the welfare of workers and other citizens.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe workers, in turn, owe it a duty to be productive, diligent and patriotic; and above all, operate with the absolute fear of God,\u2019\u2019 he said. (NAN)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
