{"id":443563,"date":"2011-06-18T10:24:00","date_gmt":"2011-06-18T10:24:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/2011\/06\/18\/chelsea-chief-executive-ron-gourlay-warns-potential-new-boss-of-the-sack\/"},"modified":"2011-06-18T10:24:00","modified_gmt":"2011-06-18T10:24:00","slug":"chelsea-chief-executive-ron-gourlay-warns-potential-new-boss-of-the-sack","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2011\/06\/18\/chelsea-chief-executive-ron-gourlay-warns-potential-new-boss-of-the-sack\/","title":{"rendered":"Chelsea chief executive Ron Gourlay warns potential new boss of the sack"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n<h3>By Jake Watson<\/h3>\n<h4>18 Jun 2011 11:24:00<\/h4>\n<\/p>\n<div readability=\"91.5929505401\">\n<div readability=\"15.186440678\">\n<div><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Chelsea CEO Ron Gourlay (GOAL.com\/Bima Said)\" src=\"http:\/\/u.goal.com\/104800\/104834_news.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Chelsea CEO Ron Gourlay (GOAL.com\/Bima Said)<\/p>\n<h4>Related Links<\/h4>\n<h4>Teams<\/h4>\n<h4>Players<\/h4>\n<\/div>\n<p><span id=\"divAdnetKeyword\"\/><\/p>\n<p><span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.goal.com\/en-gb\/teams\/england\/96\/chelsea\">Chelsea<\/a> chief executive Ron Gourlay has warned the club&#8217;s potential new manager that he must succeed or face the same fate as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.goal.com\/en\/people\/italy\/59\/carlo-ancelotti\">Carlo Ancelotti<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The club were criticised for sacking the popular Ancelotti \u2013 a manager who had guided them to their first ever Double in 2009-10, his first season at the Stamford Bridge helm &#8211; but Gourlay has hit back at the critics.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cContinuity is very \u00adimportant, but so is performance and results,\u201d Gourlay was quoted as saying in an article in <em>The Mirror<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cOur model may not be one others agree with, but we\u2019ve taken the \u00addecisions needed to develop the club \u2013 and we\u2019ve won 10 trophies in the last six years.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>While <em>The Mirror<\/em> claims that club owner Roman Abramovich has paid up to \u00a350 million in compensation during his time at Chelsea, Gourlay says the Blues are confident of hiring a new manager in the coming weeks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>&#8220;The process of getting a new coach is going very well.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>&#8220;I\u2019d expect someone to be in place within the next week, maybe two weeks, but perhaps even earlier.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Meanwhile, with Uefa having introduced new financial fair play rules, Gourlay says the club intend to comply and cut their current running costs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cPerformances on the field help drive a lot of the revenue off the field, so you have to get the balance right.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cSquads may not be as big as in the past and we have to get the youngsters through the academy.
