Central Regional Communications Director of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bernard Allotey Jacobs, is laying blame at the doorstep of the opposition New Patriotic Party for all the chieftaincy disputes bedeviling the Ga State.<\/p>\n

According to him, the peace and tranquility that suffused the Ga State was shattered the minute the erstwhile John Agyekum Kufuor led NPP government, began poking their noses in Ga state chieftaincy matters.<\/p>\n

In what could perhaps be described as a palace coup, the Stool House of the Ga Traditional Council was raided and a rival \u201cGa Mantse\u201d installed over the weekend; giving the Ga Traditional Area two occupants to the throne. With King Tackie Tawiah II who was installed in 2006, still in office, a rival king, Boni Nii Tackie Adama Latse II was enstooled amidst the firing of musketry, drumming and dancing.<\/p>\n

Commenting on the lingering Ga chieftaincy brouhaha on Peace FM\u2019s Kokrokoo Morning show, Allotey Jacobs asserted that the roping in of the security agencies in Ga chieftaincy affairs by the then NPP government exacerbated an already worsened situation.<\/p>\n

\u201cBlame the entire crisis in the Ga state on the NPP. If they had not interfered in Ga chieftaincy issues and resorted to the use of the police and military in the installation of a Ga Mantse, all this wouldn\u2019t have crop up. The Ga state was once a peaceful place for so many years until the NPP started meddling in their chieftaincy affairs,\u201d he alleged.<\/p>\n

According to him, though Ga\u2019s are sitting on a goldmine, they have unfortunately allowed the NPP to use chieftaincy disputes to whittle that away. He bemoaned the fact that though the Ga state has some rich fertile lands, yet the traditional council is poor and can hardly boast of anything worthwhile.<\/p>\n

He accused the NPP of extending its wings of interference in chieftaincy affairs to the Dagbon and Anlo area as well, thus leading to the hitherto protracted chieftaincy disputes in those areas.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
