For board members of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) this must be a most trying time as Jarret Tenebe and his members in the parallel Nigeria Football Association has lodged a petition with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) demanding a thorough investigation into what they claim was an illegal\/fraudulent use of government funds without justification by the Aminu Maigari led board.<\/p>\n

They claimed that the group conspired to commit various financial crimes under the name of Nigeria Football Federation while trading under the name of Nigeria Football Association. They claimed in the petition that the suspects are using an unregistered NFF to commit gross violations of the laws of Nigeria, collecting the sum of N158 million monthly with NFA while illegally trading as NFF.<\/p>\n

Citing the affidavit which the federation deposed to in a Lagos federal high court where it stated that the money it collects monthly from government is mere grant-in-aid, Tenebe asked the EFCC the legality of the collection of the monthly allocation by non juristic NFF as well as over six corporate accounts the NFF has continued run even though it is not registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).<\/p>\n

The NFF in the contentious affidavit claimed that it is private organisation whereas it continues to collect and dispose funds allocated to it by the federal government.<\/p>\n

The ‘NFA’ urged the EFCC to not only investigate the matter but to prosecute the NFF board members after it has ascertained their culpability to the alleged financial crime and also freeze the said bank accounts.<\/p>\n
