Chief Gab Chukwuma<\/strong>, a renowned businessman, is the proprietor of Gabros International. In this interview with Reporter Chukwujekwu Ilozue<\/strong>, Chukwuma speaks on the administration of Governor Peter Obi and sundry issues.<\/em> Excerpts:<\/p>\n

I am pleased to meet you, sir. Can we begin by way of introduction?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I am Chief Gab Chukwuma, the chief executive of Gabros International Group. I hail from Anambra State.<\/p>\n

Where do you live, sir?<\/strong><\/p>\n

As the president of a conglomerate with wide business interests and physical presence nationally and internationally, it might be a bit uneasy to hold me down to a single residence. However, one might be right to say that I live in Anambra State, Nigeria; it remains my state of origin and home too to huge investments of the Gabros Group.<\/p>\n

Since you live in Anambra, how you assess the performance of the state governor Peter Obi?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Wonderful! The governor has performed wonderfully well in giving the state and her people appreciable facelift and enhanced dignity.<\/p>\n

A close look at how the state was, up to 2006 and how it is now tells you that somebody has obviously done something differently to achieve the glaring presence of the government in the entire geopolitical landscape of Anambra State. This presence can easily be located in the unprecedented number of good roads built by this administration, making Anambra among states in the country that can boast good road network. It is unarguably the best in the South East. The government has equally been responsive to the demands of the education sector. Now you see the repairs of dilapidated school buildings, construction of new structures, provision of brand new school buses and computers (laptops and desktops), power generating sets, laboratory equipment etc. There is no need over emphasising the gospel fact that Obi is very good in husbanding the resources of the state and putting it into good use. He simply has no rival in his even distribution of infrastructural facilities. Indeed, every aspect of the state has been touched handsomely by the government of Mr. Peter Obi.<\/p>\n

Some people believe that the governor has slowed down the tempo of his development since he returned for second tenure. What in your assessment is the true position?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Some may argue that his second tenure is a bit slow in delivery, but I bet you that our God-sent governor is still very much focused. From my findings, he is strengthening the organisational framework of ANIDS. People have talked so much about abandoned projects, especially roads, so Obi is now weeding out ‘419’ contractors. He is bent on sanitising the system to ensure sustainable quality delivery. You can equally observe that he has since begun projects inspection to get first hand information. I do not think he is resting; he appears to be doing more instead.<\/p>\n

If what you are saying is true, why do we have unpopular remarks about the government from some quarters?<\/strong><\/p>\n

It would be wrong to think that the governor has no political enemies who would want to smear his high rating. Such enemies abound; and they are struggling to pull him down. But for Mr. Obi’s commanding appeal consequent upon his work, these detractors, who are no pushovers, could have turned the state against him. Obi remains the most fiscally responsible governor in Nigeria and provides Anambra people with a breadth of fresh air. Those who still feel disappointed should have a re-think and take a closer look at Obi’s administration. Adverse criticism would serve no useful purpose. I urge all oppositions to sheathe their swords and join hands with the governor in developing all facets of the state’s economy simultaneously.<\/p>\n
