An Accra Circuit Court presided over by Mr Justice D.E.K Daketsey on Thursday sentenced Emmanuel Addisenu, a 31-year-old salesman, to six years imprisonment with hard labour for stealing and forgery.<\/p>\n

The accused person pleaded guilty to the charge.<\/p>\n

Assistant Superintendent of Police, Reindorf Agyeman, the prosecutor, said Emmanuel was an employee of the complainant, who is a businesswoman who sells photographic materials.<\/p>\n

Last year, the complainant fell sick and was admitted to the hospital for about a year.<\/p>\n

While she was on admission, she handed over a pay-in booklet of Stanbic Bank to the accused to make deposits into the business account.<\/p>\n

However, instead of the accused making the deposits, he spent the money he generated and even spent the sales made from a commercial minibus that was also given to him to deposit into the account.<\/p>\n

Addisenu spent a total of GH\u00a210,297 and sensing danger that he could be caught, he forged a Stanbic Bank rubber stamp and figures as payments in the pay-in booklet.<\/p>\n

The fraud was, however, detected and he was arrested.<\/p>\n
