West Coast Region side Brikama United will be hoping to bounce back from their current dip in form when they face third place Wallidan in the top of the table clash at the Banjul mini-stadium on Sunday. But second placed Real de Banjul will have their chance to go level on points with the leaders when they take on struggling Bakau United 24 hours earlier on Saturday.

After a strong start to the campaign that saw them earn three successive wins on the bounce from their opening three rounds of matches, Kebba Jesper Touray’s Bakau has since seen their fortunes drop massively, finding themselves in the relegation dogfight in the business part of the season. Real de Banjul got off to their worst start of a league campaign for the first time in several years, but have since transformed themselves from relegation candidates to potential title contenders and a four goal victory will see them temporarily replace Brikama as the top side. Alagie Sarr’s side will be coming into the game at the Independence Stadium in buoyant mood following a last gasp 1-0 win over Samger last week.

The Cherno Samba Academy outfit will be hoping to bounce back from that heart etching defeat when they travel to Banjul to face home side Young Africans at the KG5 mini-stadium also on Saturday. Samger is seventh on the 12-team table with 16 points from 13 games, two ahead of eighth placed Young Africans who are enjoying a brilliant campaign in their first ever year of top flight football.

The final game of Saturday will come from the Serekunda East mini-stadium when Peter Bonu Johnson’s defending champions Gambia Ports Authority will be hoping to close the gap on the front runners with a tie against 2009 champions Gambia Armed Forces with the two sides leveled on 20 points going into the game. The battle of relegation candidates will set the ball rolling on Sunday when winless Steve Biko face Ebrima Manneh’s Interior FC at the Independence Stadium in Bakau. Tenth place Interior have ten points, two ahead of rock bottom Biko.

Brikama United ended the first round as the only undefeated side in the division but suffered a shock 3-1 defeat to Interior in the first game of the second round which was preceded by a stalemate at the weekend and will be hoping to bounce back from the recent slump in form when they face Foday Bah’s Wallidan in Banjul on Sunday. Wallidan currently trailed Brikama by just three points in third and a win will help the record champions course to regaining the title they last won in 2008.

The final game of the weekend that would’ve seen domestic cup champions Gamtel take on Africell has been called off with the former’s involvement in the WAFU club cup against Nyarri Talli of Senegal.
