Recall that the corps members were killed during the post-election violence that rocked some states in the north, including Bauchi.<\/p>\n<p>NYSC Director-General, Brig-General Maharazu Tsiga, in a statement issued yesterday by the Mr. Samson Agboko for Director (PR), said the deceased corps members were the first beneficiaries of the increase in gratuity from N100,000 to N1 million.<\/p>\n<p>A cross section of families of victims observing a minute silence during an audience the President granted representatives of families of slain members of the National Youth Service Corps during the post-election violence in parts of the country at the State House, Abuja. Photo by Abayomi Adeshida<\/p>\n<p>Tsiga said the drafts from Bauchi State government already drawn in the names of the next-of-kin of each of the deceased corps members had been released to the families.<\/p>\n<p>He commended the commitment of the deceased corps members to the successes of the 2011 general election and assured the families that Federal Government was determined to fish out the perpetrators of the dastardly act for appropriate punishment to deter others.<\/p>\n<p>He said the token from Bauchi State government was a way of sharing in the grief of the bereaved families, and expressed condolences of the government and people of that state over the irreparable loss of the gallant patriots.<\/p>\n<p>The NYSC boss said: &#8220;With pride, determination and sense of duty, they reported to assigned polling units where they diligently and successfully conducted the parliamentary and presidential elections adjudged as credible by both the domestic and international observers, signposting a quantum leap from our previous troubling experiences.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Apart from the N2 million draft, the Bauchi State government offered some other incentives which include sponsorship of three persons per family to either Jerusalem or Mecca on holy pilgrimage, and scholarship to two persons from each family of the deceased up to university level.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Also documents for the pilgrimage and nomination forms for the scholarship were handed to the families.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Responding on behalf of the affected families, Mr. Anwuchien N.
