THE MEMBER of Parliament for Tano South Constituency in the Brong Ahafo region, Andrews Adjei Yeboah, has surprised his constituents following what can best be described as the single biggest donation he recently made to various institutions and groups in the district.

Almost every institution in the constituency including basic schools, secondary and tertiary institutions, the Bechem Traditional Council, the district hospital, newly qualified premier side Bechem United FC and a number of communities all benefited from the MP’s whopping GH¢126,000 benevolence.

Items the MP donated included 50 bags of gari for schools, 200 streetlight bulbs for 17 communities, 15 sets of football jerseys to a number of communities, one computer each for all 42 junior high schools in the district with Bechem United FC receiving 300 bags of cement, 10 and 5 trips of sand and gravel respectively towards the construction of their football pitch. Also, three television sets and a multi choice decoder were given to three health facilities in the district.

Earlier, the MP inspected some on-going projects he is undertaking in the district including a 15-seater WC toilet facility at the St Joseph’s College of Education at Bechem and a nursery school block at Kwasu.

At a durbar of chiefs and people of the area held at Bechem to officially handover the items to the various beneficiaries, Hon Adjei Yeboah indicated his preparedness to invest in the people especially in the education of the youth to secure them a brighter future.

The Tano South MP said his priority was education therefore he would leave no stone unturned in his pursuit to improve on the quality of education and educational infrastructure in the constituency.

Hon. Adjei Yeboah said to ensure unity and peace in the area, he has adopted a strategy of distributing resources fairly to all communities and institutions in the district.

He was full of praise for the CEO and management of Bechem United FC for bringing honour to the district. According to the MP, the team’s qualification to the premier division will help boost economic activities in the area and further open up the district.

The Tano South District Director of Education, Mary Gyimah, who received part of the donation for schools in the district, commended the MP for the gesture. She noted that she will personally ensure the distribution of the items to all the beneficiary schools and make sure they are well preserved in order to fulfill the purposes for which they were donated.

Madam Gyimah however expressed concern about the state of the district education office. She said it was congested and that most staff members operate under trees because of that. The situation, she noted, is not convenient for quality work output.

She therefore called on the authorities to provide a more spacious office for the district as well as staff accommodation to enhance their operations.
