Abuja \u2013 The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) has warned retail outlets of kerosene in the country to sell the product at the government approved price or face sanctions.<\/p>\n

DPR\u2019s Head of Downstream Sector, Abuja Zone Mr. Kollomi Yerima, said this in Abuja after inspecting some filling stations on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

He said the department was going to position some of its staff to monitor activities at the stations.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe insist that any filling station that has the kerosene product must sell at government\u2019s approved price of N50.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is because the federal government has made it clear that the product has been subsidised,\u201d Yerima said.<\/p>\n

He said the difference in the pricing of the products can be linked to some of the marketers who are hoarding the product from the public.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have noticed that the NNPC mega filling station is selling at N50 but the product is not enough to be sold to those who want it.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn the other hand, there are these other filling stations who have enough kerosene, yet they have no buyers because of the price tag,\u2019\u2019 the DPR official said.<\/p>\n

The DPR had forced some of the filling stations which are with the product to sell at the official rate of N50 per litre.(NAN)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
