{"id":440503,"date":"2011-06-13T13:58:29","date_gmt":"2011-06-13T13:58:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/2011\/06\/13\/cpc-aspirants-demand-refund-of-nomination-fees\/"},"modified":"2011-06-13T13:58:29","modified_gmt":"2011-06-13T13:58:29","slug":"cpc-aspirants-demand-refund-of-nomination-fees","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2011\/06\/13\/cpc-aspirants-demand-refund-of-nomination-fees\/","title":{"rendered":"CPC Aspirants Demand Refund of Nomination Fees"},"content":{"rendered":"<div readability=\"50.6084466714\">\n<hr class=\"thin clear\" \/>\n<hr class=\"thin clear\" \/>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thisdaylive.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/allafrica.com\/img\/static\/publishers\/minibanners\/thisday180.jpg\" alt=\"This Day (Lagos)\" title=\"Visit This Day (Lagos)\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Onyebuchi Ezigbo<\/p>\n<p>12 June 2011<\/p>\n<hr class=\"thin clear\" \/>\n<p>Kano State members of Congress for Progressive Change have written the national secretariat of the party demanding refund of fees paid to obtain nomination forms to participate in the party primaries.<\/p>\n<p>The aspirants in letter dated May 31, 2011 asked the party to refund all the monies they paid since there were no primaries as stipulated by the party guidelines during the contest for last April&#8217;s generations.<\/p>\n<p>In the petition signed by Alhaji Lawan Danwawu and Shehu Usman Umaru, as chairman and secretary of the aggrieved group, respectively, and copied the chairman, Board of Trustees of CPC, General Muhammadu Buhari, the national chairman, Prince Tony Momoh, and the national secretary, Engr. Buba Galadima, the candidates bitterly complained that there was no reply to their letter earlier submitted on May 16 on the same subject.<\/p>\n<p>The group claimed that at the general elections, aspirants, who won primaries, were substituted with people who in some cases did not even participate in the primaries. Following the frustration that greeted the outcome of the general elections, THISDAY gathered that more aggrieved CPC aspirants\/candidates may follow the footsteps of their counterparts from Kano and push for a refund of payments made during the elections. However, CPC leadership has described the action of the aspirants as unwarranted and inappropriate.<\/p>\n<p>According to the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Rotimi Fashekin who spoke to THISDAY Saturday, the party owes nobody any refund for a process that has been concluded and done with.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is very inappropriate since it was provided in the nomination form that the amount is non-refundable&#8221;, he said.
