New Liverpool<\/a> signing Jordan Henderson<\/a> has vowed to repay the faith the club have shown in him and make a big impression at Anfield next season.<\/p>\n

The former Sunderland midfielder finalised his reported \u00a316 million transfer to the Reds last week before travelling with the England Under-21s to Denmark for the European Championships, and he revealed he is determined not to let the large fee affect his game.<\/p>\n

“I don’t really make the figures up but it just shows that Liverpool have faith in me,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

“So I’ll work hard and improve as a player and learn a lot and hopefully I can repay them.”<\/p>\n

Henderson was the first signing at Anfield this summer as Kenny Dalglish begins to build a squad ready to challenge at the top of the Premier League table next season, and the young midfielder is confident his new team-mates have got what it takes to break into the top four and qualify for the Champions League.<\/p>\n

“Every player wants to play in the Champions League, but I think we’ve got to focus on the Premier League first,\u201d he admitted.<\/p>\n

“Hopefully, this season can be a good season for Liverpool.”<\/p>\n

The youngster had little time to celebrate his big-money move due to international duty, and he was in action for the England Under-21s in their opening 1-1 draw against Spain, a result the midfielder was pleased with.<\/p>\n

“Spain made it really difficult for us,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

“They’re obviously a gifted team on the ball but I think that we showed great character and a good attitude to stay in the game and get the late goal.<\/p>\n

“I think that’s what the positives were that we’ve got to take out of the game.<\/p>\n

“We didn’t have much of the game but we managed to get something out of it.”
