Nairobi \u2014 Sofapaka host Club Africain from 4pm on Sunday for their Caf Confederation Cup round of 16 second leg tie at Nyayo National Stadium seeking to banish the demons of their 3-0 defeat in Tunis.<\/p>\n

The imminent arrival of the Tunisian side heralds the most important match of the 2009 Kenyan Premier League champions’ season, one that looks set to be played at breath-taking speed, going by host coach Francis Kimanzi’s statements.<\/p>\n

“We have more depth going into this match. This is a match which will bring out our character and everyone must give it their all,” the former Harambee Stars coach said.<\/p>\n

“We will give it our all, aiming for an upset, but should we lose, we would have done that honourably.”<\/p>\n

Have to go all out<\/strong><\/p>\n

Said Sofapaka captain James Situma: “It is a do-or-die for us considering that we are down by such a huge margin. We have to go all out from the beginning of the match and get whatever we can early.”<\/p>\n

Sofapaka enter the stadium clinging onto the confidence that they are a much better side than other Kenyan teams that have withered against Maghreb opposition.<\/p>\n

They are also the first Kenyan team to enter the Confederations Cup group stage playoffs after knocking out Ismaily of Egypt, AS Aviacao of Angola and St Eloi Lupopo of the Democratic Republic of Congo in the preliminaries.<\/p>\n

Exemplary performances during their giant-slaying escapades have come from, among others, Bob Mugalia, Anthony Kimani, Titus Mulama and Patrick Kagogo.<\/p>\n

Both teams enter the clash on the back of some poor league form.<\/p>\n

Club Africain have won twice, drawn once and lost twice in their past five league matches while Kimanzi’s men have won once – that flattering 5-0 pipping of Congo United – lost once and drawn twice in the KPL.<\/p>\n

The one solace for Kimanzi and Co. however is that the visitors have a poor away form.<\/p>\n

The 12-time Tunisian League winners have won once in their past 10 away league matches, a 4-1 result against Hama-Sousse, lost four times – including to Etoile Sahel and AS Marsa – and drawn five times.<\/p>\n
