Newcastle United<\/a> manager Alan Pardew<\/a> has revealed that Spanish full-back Jose Enrique<\/a> is stalling on a new contract with the club.<\/span><\/p>\n

Enrique was one of the team\u2019s most consistent performers last season and Pardew was hoping to tie the defender down to a long-term deal with his current contract due to expire next year.<\/span><\/p>\n

The 25-year-old, who has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool, has stalled on accepting the offer and Pardew appears resigned to losing his player.<\/span><\/p>\n

He told the Evening Chronicle:<\/em> \u201cAt the moment it looks like he doesn\u2019t want to deal with us.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve been asked to make him an offer, but there\u2019s been no progress since then. I still hope we can do something, but at the moment, we\u2019re still waiting for Jose.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think there\u2019s anything more I can really add on that situation at this stage.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

If Enrique does not sign a new contract in the near future then it is likely the North East club will look to cash in on him with Pardew looking for around \u00a310 million for the player\u2019s services.<\/span><\/p>\n

Newcastle have already started looking for a replacement and have made a \u00a31m bid for Swansea left-back Neil Taylor.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
