{"id":439656,"date":"2011-06-11T21:03:57","date_gmt":"2011-06-11T21:03:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/2011\/06\/11\/clergyman-urges-social-commentators-to-be-decorous\/"},"modified":"2011-06-11T21:03:57","modified_gmt":"2011-06-11T21:03:57","slug":"clergyman-urges-social-commentators-to-be-decorous","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2011\/06\/11\/clergyman-urges-social-commentators-to-be-decorous\/","title":{"rendered":"Clergyman urges social commentators to be decorous"},"content":{"rendered":"<div readability=\"83.4131004367\">\n<p>You Are Here: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ghanabusinessnews.com\">Home<\/a> \u00bb <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ghanabusinessnews.com\/category\/general-news\/\" title=\"View all posts in General News\" rel=\"category tag\">General News<\/a> \u00bb Clergyman urges social commentators to be decorous<\/p>\n<div>\n<p><span>Page last updated at Saturday, June 11, 2011 21:21 PM \/\/ <\/span><\/div>\n<p>Former Bishop of the Sekondi Anglican Diocese, Most Reverend Andrew Okoh, has urged radio social commentators to be decent and decorous with their utterances.<\/p>\n<p>He said the utterances of some social commentators\u2019 leave much to be desired, adding that if such utterance were not checked, it could result in social conflict.<\/p>\n<p>The former Bishop asked moderators of radio programmes to cut-off callers, who phone-in to insult their political opponents, saying \u201cif there is social unrest, all of us will suffer, especially children and women\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Most Reverend Bishop Okoh made the observation at a round table discussion on the topic: \u201cRole of the Media in Ghana\u2019s Democracy,\u201d which was organized by the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in Takoradi.<\/p>\n<p>The discussion formed part of selected topics chosen by the NCCE to raise awareness on critical issues affecting the country\u2019s growth and development as the Commission celebrates its 11th Constitutional week under the theme: \u201cThe State of Ghana\u2019s Democracy 2011\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Most Rev.
