Phil Jones<\/a>\u2019 proposed \u00a316 million move to Manchester United<\/a> has been delayed because Blackburn Rovers’<\/a> owners have reportedly now asked for \u00a325m for the player, according to The Telgraph.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Jones had a clause in his contract whereby an offer of \u00a316m would allow him to speak to other clubs, though Venky\u2019s are believed to have interpreted this as meaning it would simply allow the player to discuss terms while the buying club then offered a larger fee.<\/span><\/p>\n

Liverpool and Arsenal were also reportedly interested in Jones, leading Venky\u2019s to believe the player is worth more than the \u00a316m figure in his contract, though this is not expected to affect the deal.<\/span><\/p>\n

Venky\u2019s football advisors are reportedly attempting to explain that they are not entitled to ask for more money for the player as the \u00a316m release clause is sufficient for any deal to go through, leaving Manchester United very calm about the situation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jones only signed a five-year-deal with Blackburn in February, when the release clause was inserted into his contract, and since the Venky\u2019s were in charge of the club at that time the transfer should not be any doubt. The player has also undergone a medical ahead of the move.<\/span><\/p>\n

Meanwhile Manchester United have reportedly finalised a \u00a315m deal for Aston Villa midfielder Ashley Young, which will be rubber-stamped when the player returns from holiday.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
