Police investigating the death of Olympic Marathon Champion Samuel Wanjiru are under pressure to make their findings public.<\/p>\n

But Nyandarua DCIO Isaac Onyango is reluctant to divulge details, saying it would be unprofessional to engage in war of words with lawyers and pathologists who have raised questions on how the probe was done.<\/p>\n

“This is not politics and we don’t need to keep on giving accounts of every move, as this will automatically sabotage investigation in progress”, he said.<\/p>\n

However, a source close to the CID headquarters said police officers have been irked by results released by pathologists that Wanjiru accidentally fell from the balcony of his house resulting in injuries on his hands and legs.<\/p>\n

The source which requested for anonymity said the doctors did not elaborate the findings of the injuries on the body upon postmortem.<\/p>\n

“To what extent were the muscles affected by the fall? Was the force on the injuries vertical or horizontal? Wanjiru is estimated to weigh between 55 and 60 kilograms. Would you say the weight would not have caused a fracture to any of the limbs if the doctors argument is anything to go by? Where did the other bruise on the cheek come from? Where did he get strength to support himself with legs and arms if he had been hit before he fell? If not, who hit him after the fall?” asked the source.<\/p>\n

The officer said the reason for knowing direction of the force is because the bruises could have been caused by the protruding asbestos roof at the balcony, while the bruises on the cheek could have been sustained in a scuffle that Wanjiru is said to have been engaged in at Water Falls Resort restaurant that night.<\/p>\n

The injury at the back of the head which is alleged to have caused the death is however not in dispute. It is said to have been caused by a blunt object in keeping with a fall.<\/p>\n

The police have so far exonerated Wanjiru’s widow Trizah Njeri, watchman Stephen Maigua and Wanjiru’s girlfriend Jane Nduta from any involvement in murder. They say Njeri was not in the compound when Wanjiru fell, Nduta had been locked upstairs and the watchman witnessed a quarrel between Wanjiru and his wife who stood at the balcony and the gate.<\/p>\n

The CCTV recorded the watchman’s movement holding a torch and rushing to the point where Wanjiru fell.<\/p>\n

The officers say police broke the stair case door for the sake of Nduta’s security whom they feared would be attacked by those who responded to the watchman’s distress call. It is her presence which sparked a confrontation between Wanjiru and his wife.<\/p>\n
