The Sesfontein Constituency Councillor, Hendrik Gaobaeb confirmed that he would be at Erwee with the Director of Education, Kabajani Kamwi.

“We will solve the problem. The stakeholders must just be honest with us,” Gaobaeb said.

He indicated that the matter is developing into a tribal feud, as the same type of problem was experienced at Orumano where a Damara/Nama-speaking teacher had to be removed from the school after the predominantly Otjiherero-speaking community called for his removal.

“It is a small fire that is starting in the region. We need to meet with stakeholders such as NANTU, traditional authorities and the communities in the region to deal with this issue,” Gaobaeb added.

Meanwhile, Tjivikua said all the allegations levelled against him are unfounded and have no truth.

“They could not prove anything during the meeting with the governor, to show us any kid who was sent away or not given a place at the school. The main aim is tribalism,” Tjivikua said.

He admitted that he was given a letter of transfer to the Queen Sofia Primary School in the Outjo Constituency but objected and stayed on at Grootberg because there were no grounds of moving him to another school.

“I cannot do anything now, am just waiting for the authorities to come and neither am I scared to go but am scared of the consequences of my departure,” he added.

According to him, his people in Opuwo might retaliate and remove Damara/Nama-speaking teachers in the Opuwo area as a consequence.

“I don’t know in which direction we are taking Namibia, if we have to allow this type of thing,” Tjivikua said.

The Grootberg Primary School has about 300 learners and eleven teachers.

<fieldset>
<legend align="center">More News on allAfrica.com</legend>
</fieldset>

AllAfrica – All the Time

Read More:
Tribalism Closes School

Irene Hoaes 8 June 2011 Windhoek — The Ministry of Education yesterday dispatched its Deputy Minister, Dr David Namwandi, to resolve a dispute at Grootberg Primary School following the temporary closure of the school whose principal is embroiled in a row with members of the community over allegations of tribalism.
