WARRI -PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan has been called upon to consider the case of the Amnesty Phase III, with a view to extending the programme to members of the group in the\u00a0 interest of the Niger Delta region.<\/p>\n

The Amnesty Phase III, said in a statement, yesterday,\u00a0 by \u2018Gen.\u2019 Henry Gomeromo, Chairman and \u2018Gen.\u2019 Tam Odogwu, Secretary, that the decision of the members to embrace amnesty was a clear testimony of the group\u2019s resolve to bring about peace in the region. It said, \u201cas peace ambassadors, we are expressing our confidence and support to the government in sustaining the relative peace in the region.\u201d<\/p>\n

The group said that while it had resolved to embrace the Federal Government\u2019s offer on amnesty to give peace a chance, \u201cwe have not lost faith with the vision of the struggle for self-determination of our people.\u201d<\/p>\n

It added that it will continue to pursue the struggle through peaceful means until government tackles \u201cthe horizontal inequalities in the region.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
