\"\"<\/a>Mr Haruna Iddrissu, Minister of Communications said on Tuesday that GH\u00a232,200,000.00 was collected in the first quarter of 2011 as Communications Service Tax as against the GH\u00a2128,005,000 netted in 2010 and the GH\u00a2 87,400,000 in 2009.<\/p>\n

Mr Iddrissu who said this on the floor of Parliament noted that these figures were made available to the Ministry from the Ghana Revenue Authority, adding that the tax collected by the Support Services Division of the Authority was paid into the Consolidated Fund for national development.<\/p>\n

He said the Communication Service Tax Act 2008 imposed a tax to be known as the Communication Service Tax to be levied on charges payable by consumers for the use of communications service.<\/p>\n

The tax is levied on all communications service usage charged by communications service providers with Class 1 licences as provided in the National Communications Regulations 2003 (L.I.1719).<\/p>\n
