Spokesperson for Get Atta Mills Endorsed (GAME), Barbara Serwah Asamoah, has denied accusations that they sponsored a group to
try to disrupt<\/a> the vetting of former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings on Tuesday through a demonstration.<\/p>\nMembers of Friends of Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings (FONKAR) on Tuesday alleged that Barbara Serwah Asamoah; National Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Yaw Boateng Gyan and National Women\u2019s Organiser, Anita Desosoo had been mentioned as the masterminds behind the demonstration.<\/p>\n
According to Ernest Owusu Bempah, who is the Operations Manager of FONKAR, he and other members of the group were on their way to the NDC\u2019s national headquarters when they received information that some young men and women were protesting at the party\u2019s headquarters trying to disrupt the vetting process.<\/p>\n
He said fortunately, some supporters of Nana Konadu managed to restrain some of the protesters and upon further questioning they mentioned the names of the three personalities as the ones who incited them to embark on the demonstration.<\/p>\n
But speaking on Dwaso Nsem<\/em> on Adom FM on Wednesday, Barbara Serwaa Asamoah flatly denied the allegations.<\/p>\nShe told Frimpong Manso Adakabre that she did not see the need to pay people to disrupt the vetting process or intimidate Nana Konadu\u2019s supporters because that won\u2019t inure positively to the advantage of President Mills.<\/p>\n
She said FONKAR was deliberately coming up with such stories to tarnish the image of some personalities in President Mills\u2019 camp.<\/p>\n
She added that those stories were also political tricks aimed at cowering her into silence but she would not back down in her support for President Mills.<\/p>\n
However, Saint Osei, another leading member of FONKAR, who also spoke on the show, insisted that the story was true.<\/p>\n
He said since Nana Konadu declared her intentions to contest the flag bearer position of the NDC, her campaign had had to deal with intimidation from different quarters.<\/p>\n
He alleged that when the former First Lady went to pick nomination forms, members of GAME hired thugs who had confrontations with journalists all aimed at making Nana Konadu look bad and when she went to present her forms some supporters of President Mills also tried to disrupt the process.<\/p>\n
Saint Osei assured that no amount of frustration from GAME will thwart the efforts of Nana Konadu in achieving her aim.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, President Mills will be vetted Wednesday at the party\u2019s headquarters.<\/p>\n
