The Katsina State House of Assembly yesterday re-elected the incumbent speaker, Ya\u2019u Umar Gwajo-Gwajo to continue to steer the ship of the House but replaced his deputy, Bilyaminu Mohammed Rimi.<\/p>\n

The House equally re-elected all their principal officers except the vocal member, Danlami Mohammed Kurfi, who was replaced with Bala Sani Yaya as the chief whip in what was seen as the continuation of\u00a0 intrigues within the ruling People\u2019s Democratic party (PDP.<\/p>\n

The elections which were conducted shortly after the inauguration of the sixth assembly in the state followed the nomination of the incumbent speaker by a member representing Ingawa Local Government, Bala Sani Yaya, which was seconded by Halilu Ibrahim Karofi of Dutsinma Local Government.<\/p>\n

The motions which included that of the replacement of the deputy speaker with the fourth time member of the house, Hon Bello Isiyaku Majenwaya (Charanchi) by Aminu Yakubu Safana (Safana) were unanimously adopted by the members.<\/p>\n

In his acceptance speech the re-elected speaker, Ya\u2019u Umar Gwajo-Gwajo, pledged to work harmoniously with the state government and urged the incoming members to acquaint themselves with the rules of the game to enable them conform in time.<\/p>\n
