Heidar Helguson<\/a> has penned a new one-year deal with QPR<\/a> after he helped the club gain promotion to the Premier League<\/a> for the first time in 15 years.<\/p>\n

The Icelandic foward scored 13 times for the Hoops last season, helping them finish top of the Championship under Neil Warnock.<\/p>\n

“I’m absolutely delighted,” the 33-year-old told QPR’s official website.
<\/em>
“My future lies here. You want to get things sorted out as early as possible and I’ve been able to do that, which feels good.<\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

“I wasn’t sure what was going to happen when I came back last season, but I spoke to\u00a0Neil (Warnock) and he\u00a0wanted me to stay.<\/span><\/p>\n

“I was happy with my (goals) return last\u00a0year and to\u00a0be able to\u00a0play a part\u00a0in winning the league\u00a0was fantastic.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Heidar made a massive contribution last year, and he’ll play a big role again for us in the top-flight next season,”said Warnock.<\/span><\/p>\n

“He’s a big presence in the dressing room; a steadying influence in both training and on matchdays; and he’s a great professional.<\/span><\/p>\n

“He’s also got the experience of having played in the Premier League, so I’m delighted we’ve managed to agree a new deal with him.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
