On Sunday, Miguel became the third housemate to be evicted from Big Brother Africa Amplified.<\/p>\n

Speaking to The Namibian yesterday, the 32 year old hairdresser from Mozambique revealed interesting titbits about his relationship with Nkuli, his ‘crush’ on Sharon O and why he believes Vimbai swapped him.<\/p>\n

Michael or Miguel – which is your real name?<\/p>\n

My name is actually Miguel but people call me Michael.<\/p>\n

Explain exactly how you and Nkuli met and ended up having a relationship? Was it during the BBA process or before? Why did things end between the two of you?<\/p>\n

Nkuli and I met way back in 2007 if I remember correctly and we went all the way to 2008. During that time, I travelled a bit, and she also travelled and we kind of just lost contact. It’s not a situation where you say that we spoke and we decided to break up, we just lost contact. That is until we met again in Big Brother and we were both surprised as neither of us knew we were both going to be there. Once in the house, we started catching up and now that we are both out of the house, we are definitely going to keep in contact. I don’t know what her plan is but I believe that we have something here.<\/p>\n

How did you feel about the vibe between her and Luclay? Were you jealous?<\/p>\n

Well, not at all because I’m a person who likes to get things clear and I did ask Nkuli what was up between her and Luclay and she told me that Luclay was her countryman and hence they had to be close. And Luclay in turn had told me that he had a thing for Weza and he had on several occasions tried to get close to her. So no, there was nothing to be jealous about.<\/p>\n

Are you really a hairdresser? A number of the girls in the house seemed very doubtful about it. They talked about some of them being able to braid and flat-iron better …<\/p>\n

Yes I’m a hairdresser, a professional hairdresser at that. It’s just that in the house you’re away from what you do and you kind of want to try out new things. Besides, I never wanted to do anyone’s hair in the house, I did Millicent’s hair though. I gave Millicent a haircut and the other guys could see that I was doing something I knew how to do.<\/p>\n

Was your non-stop romantic pursuit of the girls in the house part of your game plan?<\/p>\n

I believe females have the power for anything in life. If you want to get anything in life, as a female you have power. I was trying to get close to all of them to see where I could go. As a hairdresser I get to hang with a lot of women, so this was not part of any game plan. I know that to people out there, they might have thought that I came across as a player but that’s not the case. I find joy when I speak to women. Women always know what they want and that’s why I like to hang with them. I believe that perhaps I might have pushed too hard, perhaps I gave them too much attention, which they ended up misunderstanding and saw or interpreted it as me coming onto them. That’s just the way I am, even where I come from I’m like that.<\/p>\n

When Vimbai swapped you, she said she felt that your being a player had gone too far, that you pushed Sharon O too hard especially given that she has a partner and child outside the house. Your view?<\/p>\n

I believe Vimbai felt I didn’t give her a lot of attention and I think because of that she saw me as a player. The thing is Vimbai and I got close during this past week and she even told me that she felt she hadn’t known me before. I know she’s feeling bad now for having swapped me but there are no hard feelings from my side. Unfortunately that’s the way life is, it goes on. I’m fine, even though I wasn’t expecting to get evicted so soon. I was planning to go all the way to the finals. Africa has decided and that is that. Also, I don’t think Vimbai had to stand or act on Sharon O’s behalf, Sharon O is her own person and if she felt I was too much I’m sure she would have told me.<\/p>\n

You and the other guys seemed to make it a war of the sexes thing when it came to nominations – you and the boys seemed to go out of your way to make sure that only girls went up for nomination! What was up with that?<\/p>\n

Well the thing is actually that Wendall came to me one day and told me the girls were planning to put us boys up for nomination and urged me and the other guys to stick together by putting them up instead. I told him that I was going to remain true to myself and put up whoever I had initially chosen to put up for nomination. But to answer your question, there was no such thing of us guys ganging up against the girls.<\/p>\n

Overall, how would you sum up your experience?<\/p>\n

I experienced a lot of stuff. I’ve discovered that in life sometimes you have to take time for yourself and think about what you say even before you say it. A lot of people out there are sensitive and can be easily hurt by our words and if there’s anything I’ve learned from this experience, it is to make sure that I’m clear on communicating my points so as to avoid misunderstandings. Also, being in an environment with so many people from different backgrounds and cultures is not an easy thing and this experience has taught me a lot in terms of tolerance.<\/p>\n

What’s next for Michael?<\/p>\n

Well, before I came to the house as I said before I was a hairdresser. Other than that, I’m a very positive person and believe that being in the house as part of the game has opened doors for me. The next step I would like to take is into acting.<\/p>\n
