{"id":437057,"date":"2011-06-06T20:28:33","date_gmt":"2011-06-06T20:28:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/2011\/06\/06\/pro-of-avrl-says-company-has-done-well\/"},"modified":"2011-06-06T20:28:33","modified_gmt":"2011-06-06T20:28:33","slug":"pro-of-avrl-says-company-has-done-well","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2011\/06\/06\/pro-of-avrl-says-company-has-done-well\/","title":{"rendered":"PRO of AVRL says company has done well"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/b77cd4d1020x20200.jpg.jpg\" border=\"0\" align=\"left\" \/>The Public Relations Officer of Aqua Vitens Rand Limited (AVRL), Stanley Martey has praised the company\u2019s work in the country saying they have done very well in their five-year mandate to manage the country\u2019s water.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to Adom News, Mr Martey rated their performance at 75 per cent especially in the area of operations and capacity building stating that the effects of AVRL\u2019s investment in infrastructure will become more evident in the next few years.<\/p>\n<p>The AVRL\u2019s contract to manage the country\u2019s urban water supply expired on Monday, June 6 and the company official handed over its responsibilities to the Ghana Water Company Limited.<\/p>\n<p>Given a five-year mandate, AVRL came under immense criticism with stakeholders and even workers describing the outfit\u2019s performance as poor.<\/p>\n<p>Last month government announced it would not renew the contract with the company but Stanley Martey says their contract required them to manage the existing system and not to improve upon the number of gallons of water distributed.<\/p>\n<p>On the fate of AVRL workers, Mr Martey explained that the workers will maintain their positions since most of them were seconded from the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL).<\/p>\n<p>Managing Director of the GWCL, Kweku Botwe says his outfit will focus on rectifying the challenges left behind by AVRL.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing, Alban Bagbin, also disclosed that a new company is expected to be formed within the next month to take over the management of Ghana\u2019s water resources.<\/p>\n<p>Story: Akuamoah Boateng\/Adom News\/Ghana<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<div readability=\"7\">\n<hr \/>\n<p>Add this page to your favorite Social Bookmarking websites\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>View original post here:<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p> The Public Relations Officer of Aqua Vitens Rand Limited (AVRL), Stanley Martey has praised the company\u2019s work in the country saying they have done very well in their five-year mandate to manage the country\u2019s water. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":0,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-437057","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.0 -
