{"id":436956,"date":"2011-06-06T16:04:47","date_gmt":"2011-06-06T16:04:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/2011\/06\/06\/expect-oil-benefits-in-more-than-2-decades\/"},"modified":"2011-06-06T16:04:47","modified_gmt":"2011-06-06T16:04:47","slug":"expect-oil-benefits-in-more-than-2-decades","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2011\/06\/06\/expect-oil-benefits-in-more-than-2-decades\/","title":{"rendered":"Expect Oil Benefits in More Than 2 Decades"},"content":{"rendered":"<div readability=\"46.5862764884\">\n<hr class=\"thin clear\" \/>\n<hr class=\"thin clear\" \/>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.newdemocratnews.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">New Democrat<\/a> (Monrovia)<\/p>\n<p>6 June 2011<\/p>\n<hr class=\"thin clear\" \/>\n<p>As many foreign firms sign on to explore crude oil along the shores of the country, the head of the National Oil Company of Liberia, (NOCAL), has cautioned Liberians to lower expectations, saying, the country may begin benefiting from oil resources not in the immediate future, but only after 25 years.<\/p>\n<p>He said the three stages &#8212; exploration, development, and production periods &#8212; involved in extracting crude oil will span 25 years depending on the quality of oil that will be discovered in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Canadian Overseas Petroleum Limited (COPL) recently disclosed offering U$45m to U$50m in cash toward the purchase of block 13 of Liberia&#8217;s oil industry.<\/p>\n<p>But, in his speech Friday night during a dinner hosted for the Liberian Business Association, NOCAL&#8217;s CEO, Christopher Z.
