Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal has emerged Speaker of the House of Representatives in a keenly contested race\u00a0 between him and Mulikat Akande-Adeola.<\/p>\n

Voting for the Speaker of the House of Representatives is ongoing at the inauguration of the of\u00a0 the Seventh National Assembly which is been inaugurated today.<\/p>\n

Out of the 360\u00a0 members of the\u00a0 House of Representatives the contenders for the post of the Speaker of the House of Representatives are Aminu Tambuwal,\u00a0 Mulikat Akande-Adeola and Muraina Ajibola.<\/p>\n

Aminu Tambuwal, from the north west\u00a0 and Mulikat Akande-Adeola this afternoon were nominated by the members- elect leaving out Muraina Ajibola.<\/p>\n

Aminu Tambuwal enjoys the support of the many of opposition members while Mulikat Akande-Adeola is strongly backed by the ruling party PDP.<\/p>\n

About 220 members of the House of Representatives are from the People Democratic Party while the opposition parties have 140 members.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
