Like any bride preparing for their wedding day, Jessica Simpson had vowed to get into shape.

And she showed off her progress yesterday by fitting into a tiny pair of Daisy Dukes.

The 30-year-old left her hotel in New York with her fiancé Eric Johnson and looked happy and glowing.

"Shedding:

Shedding: Jessica Simpson showed off her slimmed down legs in a pair of Daisy Dukes while going for an evening out in New York with fiancé Eric Johnson

Jessica paired the denim shorts with a white shirts and cream blazer for romantic evening out.

She accessorised with light brown wedge sandals and a large matching bag that had a red bottom.

The pair headed off to a restaurant in nearby New Haven, Connecticut and looked very much in love as they held hands.

Bride to be: The 30-year-old singer turned fashion mogul is preparing to tie the knot later this year

Johnson was more dressed down and was casual in jeans and a chequered shirt.

Jessica has been the subject of cruel taunts about her weight over the years but she set her mind to losing some pounds before walking down the aisle.

She enlisted the help of celebrity trainer Tracy Andeson earlier this year and has been working out four times a week for 75 minutes at a time.

And Jessica is clearly so pleased with the results that she’s invested in a whole wardrobe of shorts to show off those pins.

The blonde donned an even tighter red pair today when she joined Jessica Alba for a tour of the Yale campus.

The pair were there to support their partners, who are both celebrating their ten year reunion at the Ivy League institution.

"Moving

Moving on: The NFL player proposed to Jessica in November last year – her ex Tony Romo got married last week and her ex-husband Nick Lachey is set to tie the knot soon

"Very

Very significant others: Simpson enjoys a tour of the Yale campus with Jessica Alba today

Anderson told Us Weekly: ‘She wants to look healthy.’

Jessica’s fiancé proposed to her in November and the pair are planning to walk down the aisle later this year – it will be her second marriage.

Meanwhile, Jessica has become a stepmother to Johsnon’s Airedale terrier, Bentley.

When he moved into Jessica’s home he brought the pet pooch that had belonged to him and his ex-wife Keri.

Progress: Jessica is not quite where she was when she filmed Dukes of Hazzard in 2005 but she’s getting there

The couple split in 2009 after five years of marriage and Johnson got to keep the dog.

Jessica had lost her Maltipoo, Daisy back in September 2009 when a coyote attacked it. She was a gift from her ex-husband Nick Lachey.

The singer turned fashion mogul has already built a clothing empire worth nearly $1billion.

She has now teamed up with her younger sister Ashlee to launch a new line for girls aged between seven and 16 that will include sportswear, denim and activewear.

Adding to clothing empire: Jessica has teamed up with her younger sister Ashlee to launch a new line for tween girls

The line, which will fall under the Jessica Simpson Collection umbrella, will hit stores in the fall.

Simpson told WWD: ‘Creating a tween apparel collection was a natural extension for the brand.

‘I’m excited to bring my sister, Ashlee, along as co-creative director of this division, because she brings a savvy rocker edge that defines today’s tweens.’

Jessica is soon set to tie the knot but her two former partners may beat her to the alter.

Tony Romo got married last weekend to Gossip Girl Chase Crawford’s sister Candice.

Lachey is set to marry fiancee Vanessa Minillo, 30, soon. They celebrated their upcoming nuptials with a bridal shower this week at the London West Hollywood hotel in Los Angeles.
