Ghana coach Goran Stevanovic has dropped in-form Andre Ayew from his starting line-up to face Congo on Friday, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

True to the line-up GHANAsoccernet.com predicted on Friday morning, the Serbian manager opted for Sulley Muntari in place of Ayew who has excelled with Marseille and the Black Stars this season.

Ayew was tipped at the favourite to play in the left wing position.

German-born Kevin Prince Boateng will play his first match on Ghanaian soil and has been handed the task of playing from the right wing position.

Micahel Essien was also named in the starting line-up to play his first match for the Black Stars in 16 months.

Workaholic midfielder Agyemang Badu is preferred ahead of Anthony Annan whose form has dipped after a toe injury.

Badu will partner Essien in central midfield.

Daniel Opare has taken over David Addy’s position on the left-back after the Portugal-based player suffered a torrid time in the previous game against Congo.

John Paintsil will keep his place in the right while John Mensah and Isaac Vorsah will take their first choice positions in the centre of defence.

The Serbian coach will deploy the 4-2-2-1-1 formation with Prince Tagoe spearheading the attack while Italy-based Kwadwo Asamoah plays just behind the Partizan Belgrade attacker.

Stevanovic opted for Muntari because the Marseille player only trained with the side once in the wake of an armed robbery attack and could only train with the squad once.

Ghana line-up: Richard Kingson, John Paintsil, Daniel Opare, Isaac Vorsah, John Mensah, Agyemang Badu, Kevin Prince Boateng, Michael Essien, Prince Tagoe, Kwadwo Asamoah, Sulley Muntari.

Read more here:
