So many things on my mind; I have a book and a pen by me. I want to write; but how am I? Where am I? On bed? No!<\/p>\n
It gets me when I am stuck in a chaotic traffic. It gets me when I experience needless power outages. Now I am on bed. Would it get me? Let\u2019s see what my reflections are. Our experience; my experience, lets I forget; my TV is on. There I saw him. I saw a Youth. A President, \u201ca Youthful President\u201d, Mr. Obama. There I remember July 11, 2009, Accra; in Obama\u2019s own words and I quote \u201cl come here for a very simple reason that the vision of the 21st century would be shaped by not what happened in Moscow, Rome or Washington, but what happens here in Accra as well.\u201d What an empowerment!<\/p>\n
Mr. Obama ,\u201ca Youth\u201d, the real essence of human resource, the symbolism of restoration of the dignity of the black race.<\/p>\n
Though many have gone before him, the likes of Martin Luther King Jnr., George Padmore, Nelson Mandela of South Africa, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah can be found in him.<\/p>\n
Youth! Africa! Is it genetic inferiority or shear ignorance, timidity, ill-indoctrination or weak cultural system? Sometimes I lose my cool by writing thought-provoking and semi violent articles. Though I have regrettably destroyed some, of course, I am one of those fundamentalists who do not depend on vain promises of man.<\/p>\n
However, I believe as a social science student and just as politics is a way of life and man cannot live without it to which Aristotle was right, again I believe politics can be used for the good of man.<\/p>\n
In my own estimation, politics accounts for 80% of our continent\u2019s woes.<\/p>\n
On a continent where wealthier and powerful people have become mired in the culture of corruption, clientelism and even well meaning policies and programmes have failed, even if I write a book, who would care to read it?<\/p>\n
Dwelling on Romans 12:2 \u201cDo not conform yourselves to the standards of this world. But let God transform inwardly by a complete change of your mind. Then you will be able to know the will of God, what is good and what is pleasing to him. GNB\u201d<\/p>\n
The youth must become more rational and issue based.<\/p>\n
The youth must use logic to measure events, knowing exactly what each one is capable of doing best and examining every word of the politicians carefully.<\/p>\n
In Africa, power does not only come from a badge or a gun. Power comes from lying and lying very big and you get the whole damn world to play along with you. Once you get everybody agreeing to what they know in their hearts is not true; you have got them by the balls.<\/p>\n
It continues that, the youth is not allowing politicians to think for them and end up imposing themselves on them.<\/p>\n
Many youth complain bitterly of being sidelined by the politicians and well meaning state-men and women. To the youth, these groups of people do not think it looks like the future depends on it.<\/p>\n
However, the garbage man will never knock on your door and ask you, \u201cwhere is your trash?\u201d Neither will God, let alone man. If you put it out, he will pick it.<\/p>\n
One example, the papacy has declared the year 2011 the year of the youth with series of activities throughout the world. In my experience, I have encountered very energetic, very well resourced youths. Unfortunately, they are virtually eaten up by pride, apathy and drowned in sociological ill.<\/p>\n
Low self esteem and peer pressure have made some youth occultists, cyber monks, internet bullying and the advent of quasi religious bodies and faceless and amorphous politically motivated pressure groups engaging in violet manifestos and blogs.<\/p>\n
Many youth do not know television is virtual and not representative in real life. Many are behaving like the characters they see, on Televisions, movies and music videos.<\/p>\n
This notwithstanding, the continent has produced large number of those who are breaking the odd and trying to sort out the mess that is posed to Africa through Corruption, Globalisation, Climate Change and Terrorism.<\/p>\n
Some are simply symbolism of Okwonkwo in the novel. \u201cThings fall Apart\u201d by the Legendary poet and writer who had to work to pay his father\u2019s debts. They saw themselves through school, some breadwinners and some social entrepreneurs.<\/p>\n
In Ghana, the likes of Interfaith Team, a group of young graduates are creating more and more awareness on the looming threat of environmental and climate change in my opinion most people seem to have forgotten.<\/p>\n
A young Journalist Anas Arimeyao Anas with his black eye team knowing his pen and camera are haughtily mightier than two edged sword and a raw power of any dictator would go undercover and bring the rot generated by negligence of duty in our state institutions. This I know there is more to look up for than give up.<\/p>\n
My pen is very subjective and deductive in reasoning for which this is captioned the African Youth Ball.<\/p>\n
Therefore this is my KICK. KICK yours.<\/p>\n
