Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has stated that the next NPP Government was ready with programmes that have been planned, evaluated, priced and sources of funding identified.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want to come to office not with promises but with programmes,\u201d he added. A statement issued by the Office of Nana Akufo-Addo said he was speaking on the topic: \u201cThe NPP Story and Our Vision for Election 2012,\u201d at a seminar for 220 parliamentary aspirants, spokespersons and national executives in Accra.<\/p>\n
He said: \u201cThe party does not want to win power only to find out at that it is not ready for office. We want to come to office not with promises but with programmes.\u201d To achieve this, the NPP Flagbearer said the first team to be put in place, was a think tank, in order to ensure that his administration would begin on the first day on a slate of competence, commitment and with confidence.<\/p>\n
\u201cThus, since my election on August 7, 2010, I have put together a Policy Unit, headed by Albert Osei (a retired Senior World Bank official) and a Manifesto Committee headed by Professor Yaw Twumasi (distinguished political scientist), who are consulting with various stakeholders to ensure that, with God\u2019s blessing, we win power in 2012, ready for office,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Nana Akufo-Addo explained that the NPP would approach, \u201cprogrammes that address the little things that matter to Ghanaians in their communities, like safe neighbourhoods, clean gutters, hygienic food, streets with names, flowing tap water, reducing road traffic, and making sure that rules and regulations are obeyed\u201d.<\/p>\n
In addition to making access to quality education for every Ghanaian child his priority, Nana Akufo-Addo has identified youth unemployment as a major issue requiring urgent action. In outlining the NPP\u2019s programme for office, Nana Akufo-Addo added: \u201cProgrammes that address the fundamental issues of our time, the urgent need to tackle widespread youth unemployment, good skills, good jobs and good pay.\u201d<\/p>\n
He reiterated his bold vision to transform Ghana\u2019s economy, using the transformational pillars of \u201cindustrialised economy, modernised agriculture, a modern, integrated public transport system that links every corner of our nation and our country to our neighbours.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
