{"id":434689,"date":"2011-06-02T11:25:11","date_gmt":"2011-06-02T11:25:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/2011\/06\/02\/sunderland-will-not-sell-their-ghanaian-striker-asamoah-gyan\/"},"modified":"2011-06-02T11:25:11","modified_gmt":"2011-06-02T11:25:11","slug":"sunderland-will-not-sell-their-ghanaian-striker-asamoah-gyan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2011\/06\/02\/sunderland-will-not-sell-their-ghanaian-striker-asamoah-gyan\/","title":{"rendered":"Sunderland Will Not Sell Their Ghanaian Striker Asamoah Gyan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><div readability=\"86.6673040153\">Welcome to Ghanasoccernet.com, Ghana&#8217;s most authoritative football news website.<\/p>\n<div readability=\"7\"><strong><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-30388\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ghanasoccernet.com\/2011\/06\/sunderland-will-not-sell-their-ghanaian-striker-asamoah-gyan\/asamoahgyan_2502162-11\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-30388\" title=\"Sunderland will not sell Ghanaian striker Asamoah Gyan\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanasoccernet.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/AsamoahGyan_25021624-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Sunderland coach Steve Bruce has categorically ruled out the option of selling record Ghanaian signing Asamoah Gyan this summer.\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Asamoah Gyan is wanted by several clubs in England and Germany<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>Sunderland coach Steve Bruce has categorically ruled out the option of selling record Ghanaian\u00a0 signing Asamoah Gyan this summer.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Bruce is looking to complete a major overhaul of his Black Cats squad, having lostDarren Bent, Bolo Zenden and four loan players from the squad that completed last season.<\/p>\n<p>Up to six signings will be necessary just to maintain the status quo, but with Aston Villa\u2019s \u00a324m fee for Bent due to be paid in four separate instalments, it remains to be seen whether owner Ellis Short will be willing to sanction a significant transfer kitty.<\/p>\n<p>Bruce has been monitoring the free agent market, and has made an initial approach to Seb Larsson, David Vaughan and Kieren Westwood in an attempt to pick up a bargain.<\/p>\n<p>He will also be looking to recruit more expensive talent, however, and as the most valuable asset on the Black Cats\u2019 books, Gyan has already been linked with a possible move away from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ghanasoccernet.com\/search\/?search=Wearside\"><span><span>Wearside<\/span><\/span><\/a> in order to generate funds.<\/p>\n<p>Bruce is aware of the growing speculation, but having watched Gyan finish last season as Sunderland\u2019s leading goalscorer, he is not about to sell the only fit and available striker currently on his club\u2019s books.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have seen bits of speculation (about Gyan), but that does not worry me at all,\u201d said Bruce, who has been linked with a possible move for South Korean striker Ji Dong-Won, who spent a year with Reading\u2019s youth academy in 2007-08. \u201cI have had no inquiries for Gyan.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe will be better in the second year because he will be used to it more. What we need is competition for him.
