ABUJA-The Federal Government has changed the date for the conduct of the 2011 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, from Saturday June 11, to Saturday, June 18.<\/p>\n

A statement by Mr. Timothy Oyedeji, the Public Relations Officer, Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, said the change in date was approved through a message\u00a0 to the JAMB Registrar, Professor \u2018Dibu Ojerinde.<\/p>\n

The government said the change became inevitable as a result of the clash in date (i.e. June 11, 2011) with the ongoing NECO examinations.<\/p>\n

It said: \u201cFor instance, sizeable students who have applied to write UTME would also be sitting for the National Examinations Council\u2019s Biology (Practical) on Friday, June 10, 2011, and, as such, may not be able to travel after their NECO examinations to sit for the scheduled 2011 UTME on Saturday, June 11, 2011.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn order for the Board not to deprive many candidates of the opportunity to sit for the 2011 UTME, it has become necessary to change the date to Saturday, 18th May, 2011,\u201d it added.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
