A group, the Patriotic Forum, Oyo State chapter, has advised the state governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, to be wary of issues that contributed to the rejection of his predecessor, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala, by the people of the state.<\/span><\/p>\n

The group made the call in a statement signed by its Secretary, Mr. Jide Ajao, at the end of its May monthly meeting, a copy of which was made available to our correspondent in Ibadan, the state capital, on Wednesday.<\/span><\/p>\n

The forum specifically asked Ajimobi not to interfere in the politics of the state council of the National Union of Road Transport Workers as allegedly done by Alao-Akala while in power.<\/span><\/p>\n

It also advised the governor to give due respect and recognition to the traditional institution.<\/span><\/p>\n

The communiqu\u00e9 read, \u201cThe Forum advises that as a priority, the new governor should improve on the deteriorating health and education sectors; constitute laudable employment programmes and ameliorate the long abandoned agricultural development.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHe should also return rural road maintenance to the good old days of Public Works Department.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe governor should form a government of unity and should not neglect in any form but to carry along other political parties that contended with him.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAll other members of his political party or groups that in one form or the other worked towards the success of the party at the polls should not be sidelined.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The forum also asked Ajimobi to ensure that he remained a listening governor throughout his tenure.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
