Ajax<\/a> are to hold a testimonial for former Manchester United<\/a> goalkeeper Edwin Van der Sar<\/a> in August.<\/p>\n

The match will go ahead on August 3 and will involve former team-mates.<\/p>\n

The retired 40-year-old spent made 311 appearancs for Ajax between 1991 and 1999, helping them to a Champions League trophy in 1995 by beating AC Milan 1-0 and the following year they were runners-up \u2013 losing to Juventus on penalties.<\/p>\n

Van der Sar added another winner\u2019s medal with Manchester United in 2008, where he stopped a Nicolas Anelka penalty in the shootout after the game had ended 1-1.<\/p>\n

The following season he set the clean sheet record by not conceding a goal for 1,311 minutes in the Premier League.<\/p>\n

After a defeat to Barcelona in Champions League final 2009, the Dutch shot-stopper was looking to add his two winners\u2019 medals by avenging the defeat against the Catalans this season.<\/p>\n

However, the Spaniards produced a stunning display to beat United 3-1 ensuring that the Dutchman would not get the hat-trick of medals in his last ever game.<\/p>\n

Van der Sar also had spells at Fulham and Juventus and Ajax revealed on their website that they would be paying their own tribute to the Dutch legend with a testimonial at the Amsterdam ArenA in the summer.<\/p>\n
