The Director of Communications at the Castle, Koku Anyidoho says the fact that projects are not necessarily being undertaken in the nation\u2019s capital does not mean that government is not working.<\/p>\n
Mr. Anyidoho said the government was focusing more on fulfilling the needs of the most deprived areas across the country. Koku, who is with President Mills on his tour of the Eastern Region, was speaking on Adom FM on Wednesday about the visit.<\/p>\n
According to him, the government was making sure that the developmental \u2018cake\u2019 was spread across the nation so Accra could not be the main focus.<\/p>\n
He added that the government\u2019s works were being felt more in the rural areas where infrastructural development was going on heavily in the various districts and towns and people who had travelled widely in the regions could attest to that fact.<\/p>\n
He cited projects that have been completed to include the new Tarkwa Hospital, a new Midwifery Training School at Goaso and a Nursing Training College in Techiman all in the Brong Ahafo Region while Jirapa, Nandom, Lawra and other areas in the Upper East Region were benefiting from five new hospitals.<\/p>\n
Koku Anyidoho stated that even though some people have refused to see what the President is doing, after President Mills\u2019 first four years, all his good works will be known.<\/p>\n
He said President Mills is not distracted by the insults and jokes aimed at tarnishing his reputation and that he remains focused and determined to fulfill his Better Ghana agenda in his first term in office.<\/p>\n
He urged people to be patient with President Mills because Rome was not built in a day and that by the time the four-year term is over, the government would have delivered on its promises.<\/p>\n
Koku Anyidoho also rubbished allegations that President Mills is only undertaking developmental projects in some parts of the region because it is a stronghold of the opposition NPP.<\/p>\n
He disclosed that previously unmotorable roads in the Akyem Abuakwa constituency, considered to be NPP flag-bearer, Nana Akufo-Addo\u2019s stronghold, have been worked on, while a steel bridge has been constructed in Abuakwa Adukrom among other projects. Again the construction of educational infrastructure and health facilities have been carried out or are yet to be commenced in the Region.<\/p>\n
Eastern Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Julius Debrah also debunked allegations saying the projects have been spread across the region and that President Mills\u2019 visit during which he will commission various developmental projects will prove that assertion wrong.<\/p>\n
He said even though the Region is regarded as a stronghold of the NPP, thousands of people welcomed President Mills on Tuesday when he began his visit.<\/p>\n
Mr. Debrah also disclosed that they were putting together a strategy that would see them capture the Eastern Region in the 2012 elections.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
