Arsenal<\/a>\u2019s Alex Song<\/a> was not lying about his knee injury – that is the opinion of Cameroon team doctos ahead of a crucial game against Senegal in the 2012 African Nations Cup qualifying fourth round game scheduled for this weekend.<\/span><\/p>\n

The 23-year-old former Bastia player underwent a medical test in Yaounde a day ago to confirm the extent of the injury, aftera number of local tabloids had suggested he was using a phoney injury to snub coach Javier Clemente and the entire team once again.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cA test carried out by the medical staff of the Cameroon national team made us to confirm that Alex Song really had an injury and was not pretending,\u201d an official of Cameroon FA told reporters in Yaound\u00e9 on Tuesday.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHowever, we came to a conclusion that he should stay with the rest of the team throughout preparations till match day,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n

The team had its first training session on Tuesday morning at the match venue of Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium before a cheering crowd, but the side was without captain Samuel Eto\u2019o, OSC Lille centre back Aur\u00e9lien Chedjou and Tottenham Hotspur\u2019s Beno\u00eet Assou-Ekotto.<\/span><\/p>\n

The second session holds tomorrow, with the entire squad expected to take part, according to the Fecafoot official.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/p>\n
