{"id":432379,"date":"2011-05-30T06:57:00","date_gmt":"2011-05-30T06:57:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/2011\/05\/30\/polytechnic-compiles-migration-paper\/"},"modified":"2011-05-30T06:57:00","modified_gmt":"2011-05-30T06:57:00","slug":"polytechnic-compiles-migration-paper","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2011\/05\/30\/polytechnic-compiles-migration-paper\/","title":{"rendered":"Polytechnic Compiles Migration Paper"},"content":{"rendered":"<div readability=\"41.6565549987\">\n<hr class=\"thin clear\" \/>\n<hr class=\"thin clear\" \/>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.newera.com.na\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/allafrica.com\/img\/static\/publishers\/minibanners\/newera180.jpg\" alt=\"New Era (Windhoek)\" title=\"Visit New Era (Windhoek)\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Tunomukwathi Asino<\/p>\n<p>27 May 2011<\/p>\n<hr class=\"thin clear\" \/>\n<p>Windhoek \u2014 Dr Andrew Niikondo, Head of the Public Management Department at the Polytechnic of Namibia has compiled a research paper on informal settlements for the City of Windhoek titled &#8220;Migrants to Cities and Towns in Namibia: The Dynamics of Investing in Urban versus rural areas.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The paper was launched on Monday at a public lecture at the Polytechnic of Namibia entitled: &#8220;Migration of People to Local Authorities in Namibia&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the event, the Minister of Regional and Local Government, Housing and Rural Development, Jerry Ekandjo said: &#8220;The research paper, in itself, captures the essence of the endemic problem of housing facing the residents of Windhoek, and by extension, the nation as a whole.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He added: &#8220;I have no doubt the paper will serve as a reference point for much of the present and future work that will be directed at addressing housing challenges in Namibia.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is the challenge that all citizens are called to take up, including students and professionals alike.
