Kano -Supporters of the PDP in Kano took to the streets of the city, Sunday,\u00a0to celebrate the inauguration of the new governor of the state, Dr Rabi\u2019u Kwankwaso.<\/p>\n

The News Agency of Nigeria,<\/em> NAN, reports that immediately Kwankwaso was sworn in, the supporters, most of whom were\u00a0dressed in white, red and green coloured shirts,\u00a0trousers,\u00a0symbolising the PDP colours, broke into a wild frenzy.<\/p>\n

Many of them rode on motorcycles while some boarded cars and trucks which they loaded with giant loudspeakers and played music across the city.<\/p>\n

The people disrupted traffic in such major streets of the town as France Road, Audu Bako Way, and Sabo Bakin Zuwo Way.<\/p>\n

Some of them told NAN that they waited \u201cprayerfully\u201d for the inauguration day, for eight years during which they\u00a0were\u00a0in the opposition\u00a0.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes, this day is very special to us. We have waited for it for eight years, and today is it; so we will celebrate it to the fullest,\u201d said one Musa Shitu.<\/p>\n

Another supporter, Salisu Lawan, described the eight-year opposition they played as \u201ca fasting period at the end of which we are now breaking the fast, and this celebration is part of the breakfast\u201d.<\/p>\n

NAN reports that Kwankwaso, who governed the state between 1999 and 2003, took the oath of office at a colourful ceremony at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
