A member of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr.John Ndebugri, has advised the Lower Manya MP, Hon. Michael Teye Nyaunu, to lodge a formal complaint with the Chief Justice over his claims that President Mills is not in good health and thereby, incapacitated to run the affairs of the country.<\/p>\n
Hon. Nyaunu, who is the Campaign Coordinator for Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings in the NDC\u2019s upcoming presidential primaries, was captured on tape convincing delegates that President Mills is virtually blind and incapable of running his Government.<\/p>\n
The Lower Manya MP said the President could no longer read confidential documents brought to the Castle. He said as a result, the Law Professor has allowed those surrounding him such as Mr. Ato Ahwoi, to run the country.<\/p>\n
According to him, the information is from an \u2018insider\u2019 but the Nana Konadu Camp is hesitant to publicize it because it wants to protect the NDC\u2019s image ahead of the 2012 elections.<\/p>\n
This is the second time the vociferous MP has made such remarks about Professor Mills.<\/p>\n
Prior to the 2008 elections, Mr Nyaunu made similar allegations against the Law Professor, claiming that he was too in poor health to be President. Although the Presidency has indicated that it will not pursue the matter, the Former PNC MP for Zebila, Mr. Ndebugri, believes such statements should not be taken kindly.<\/p>\n
He said Hon. Nyaunu should be able to seek the support of his colleague MPs to petition the Chief Justice based on his conviction that the President is visually impaired and incapable of controlling the state machinery.<\/p>\n
Contribution to a discussion on Citi FM\u2019s current Affairs programme, \u201cThe Big Issue\u201d on Saturday May 28, Mr. Ndebugri noted that there could be some truth in Hon. Nyaunu\u2019s claims considering the goofs that were exhibited when the President was taking his oath of office in 2009.<\/p>\n
\u201cSomebody must make a formal complaint I believe to the Chief Justice that the President is unable to perform his functions by reason of infirmity of body in this particular case, then the Chief Justice is to put up some Committee or something. We need to discuss this thing dispassionately and stop bringing in some emotional statements like everybody gets sick. Everybody gets sick but not everybody can be President. Ho. Nyaunu is a Member of Parliament so if he thinks that the President\u2019s performance is being affected by his impaired eyesight, he should lobby within Parliament and get the signatures of One-third members to sign onto such a thin and let the procedure to go instead of making an ideal secret statement. I am surprised that people are saying everybody gets sick. This President, on the very first day he was to take power, was unable to read the oath. He misread the oath and that\u2019s a serious matter\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n
PNC General Secretary and Mr. William Doworpkor of the CPP, both panellists on the programme, disagreed with Mr. Ndebugri\u2019s position.<\/p>\n
According to them, the accuser has no basis for his claims and that there is no need for any investigations since the President is performing his functions accordingly.<\/p>\n
