WARRI \u2013 A cache of ammunition, including rocket propelled grenade launchers, RPGLs, AK 47 rifles and dynamites,\u00a0 belonging to the Niger Delta Liberation Force, NDLF, led by fallen militant leader, \u2018General\u2019 John Togo, have been\u00a0 abandoned at a hideaway, where they were\u00a0\u00a0 buried in a jungle\u00a0 by fleeing militants, shortly after the group was disbanded, May 14,\u00a0 following the demise of Togo.<\/p>\n

Also, the Joint Task Force, JTF, on the Niger Delta, whose men exhumed Togo\u2019s corpse from the secret place he was buried in camouflage army uniform after his death, May 14, may carry out a DNA test to determine, whether indeed,\u00a0 the corpse exhumed by the soldiers, May 25, was that of the wanted militant leader.<\/p>\n

\u201cDespite the confirmation by those who knew John Togo, particularly with the scar on his nose, that it is his remains, the task force must be doubly sure that the corpse is actually that of John Togo by carrying out all the necessary tests,\u201d a senior military officer told Vanguard, yesterday, in Warri.<\/p>\n

Vanguard, however, learnt on good authority, yesterday, that the family of John Togo may not only demand the corpse of the militant leader, but also drag the task force court for extra-judicial killing of their bread winner.<\/p>\n

A family source said, yesterday, \u201cas far as we are concerned, John Togo accepted amnesty from the Federal Government but had one or two issues to sort out over the amnesty programme, which was why he returned to the creeks. He, vowed to surrender and indeed was not engaged in any criminal activity when he was allegedly bombarded by the task force.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn fact, his lawyers and other notable Nigerians were negotiating with the Federal Government on the conditions for his amnesty when the task force attacked him,\u201d the source added.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
